3D Digital Renderings
The 3D digital renderings fall into two broad categories:
The first category includes fifteen selected objects that belong to the collection of relics of the Cathedral of the Annunciation and come from the time when it functioned as the Roman Catholic Church of Saint John (San Giovanni).
The second category includes the 3D digital rendering of the cathedral and its surroundings as well as important elements of the interior and exterior of the architectural structural decoration.
The visitor has the possibility to select specific exhibits/elements and delve into them by selecting the corresponding link.
Relics
Holy Gospel with metal stone-studded inlay. It depicts on the obverse the Resurrection in the center and in the corners the four Evangelists in medallions. The cup section of the Chalice carries the four Evangelists with their symbols. The base depicts the Annunciation, the Nativity, the Baptism of Christ, the Presentation of Christ to the Temple. Inscription on the base: ”ΑΓΚϚΤΝΟΥ: 1861”. Arabic stamp on cusp. Creator: Unknown Material: Gold plated silver Date: 1861
The cup section of the Chalice carries four medals: Jesus Christ, John the Baptist, Saint Anna and Christ Elkomenos. At the base the four Evangelists. On the base and on the cusp there are inscriptions in Russian and enamel decorations. Creator: Unknown Material: Gold plated Metal Alloy, Enamel Date: 1940-1960
Bells
On the Western side it is decorated with a coat of arms with a cross inside and the letters R, O, D, I in each of its quarters, while on the Eastern side it has the relief of a large sailing ship. Beneath these two figures it bears a cast relief inscription: “INTENDNT͘·A.D.MCMXXV·SONITV MEAE VOCIS PER IMMENSA MARIA DEUM ET PATRIAM NAVTAE”. On the Northern side in the middle of the bell there is a frame in which the manufacturer’s name is written: “FONDERIA / DACIANO – COLBACHINI / E / FIGLI / PADOVA”. The supports that connect the bell to the counterweight are fish-shaped. It has a diameter of 1.76 m. Creator: FONDERIA / DACIANO – COLBACHINI / E / FIGLI / PADOVA Material: Bronze Date: 1925
In the upper part of the Western side it bears its name in relief: “LA VITTORIA”, flanked by two crosses on either side, within a circle. In the center of the bell, on all sides there is an elaborate cross, except for the Eastern side where there is the seal of the manufacturer “FONDERIA / DACIANO – COLBACHINI / E / FIGLI / PADOVA”. In its upper part and towards the East, it bears its name: “LA CONCORDIA”. It is adorned by three crosses to the East, North and South, while to West we see the seal of its manufacturer. On the Western side at the height of the strip bearing its name, we also see the date of construction A.D. MCMXXV (1925). It has a diameter of: 1.16 m. It is adorned by three crosses to the North, South, and West while to the East it bears the manufacturer’s seal. On the Eastern side at the height of the perimeter strip with the name, we also see the date of construction A.D.MCMXXV (1925). It has a diameter of 0.84 m. Its name is inscribed on its Eastern side and its manufacturing date to the West. In the center it bears the monogram of Jesus in Latin characters (IHS) and a cross above the H, which refers to Christ the Savior (Iesus hominum Salvator). It has a diameter of 0.74 m.
